Denaham Springs’ Todd Suprun’s dogs win at CAAWS

ellyMystic Krewe of Mutts Parade took place yesterday in Baton Rouge. Todd Suprun’s dogs – Abby and Lacie of Denham Springs, won the costume-and-float competition, reported by THE ADVOCATE.

Donna Douglas, also known as Elly May Clampett, in the television show “The Beverly Hillbillies,” threw beads from a car. It was an honor to have Donna Douglas participate in this local event.

The theme this year was “Pawraiders of the Lost Bark“. You can see 2009 parade photos of this event on the CAAWS website.

Louisiana Kids Collecting Pennies

pennies1The Tri-Parish Times reports, “Louisiana students are collecting pennies as part of the state’s celebration of the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.

The “Children’s Lincoln Penny Campaign” will raise money for UNICEF, to fight the spread of tuberculosis and typhoid. Those are the diseases that killed Lincoln’s three sons.”

This campaign being led by Secretary of State Jay Dardenne.

So, check under your couch and chair cushins, and start collecting all those pennies laying around.
